I had the opportunity to take salsa musicality classes with Kelly, and it was an absolutely enriching experience. Kelly helped me discover music in a new way, and this has opened up many possibilities for my dancing. He taught me how to listen to salsa with new ears, recognize instruments, feel the changes in the music, and express them through movement. Thank you so much Kelly for the incredible classes!

    Response from Sigue La Clave

Andrea, It is a real pleasure for me to work with someone as eager to learn (& as talented!) as yourself! There's so much joy and life in salsa music and I love being in a group eager to soak it up, and explore its richness. Thank YOU for offering your place for the classes, and for the yummy brunches afterwards. Having friends and dance buddies like you is a huge part of what keeps me coming back to San Pancho. I'm looking forward to our next round this fall!

Kelly was my very first Salsa teacher almost a year ago. I started taking classes and lessons with him and have taken a few workshops and attended a good number of socials at his house. It is safe to say that without Kelly I probably would not be dancing today or at least at the level I currently am. I highly recommend working with him to learn the history, practice, and musicality of Cuban Salsa dancing. In my time of knowing him he has been a really kind friend and mentor and I appreciate all of his attention to my education.

Joyful!, thank you for your kind words. The pleasure of working with you has been all mine. It makes such a difference to have a truly enthusiastic and committed student, and it's been a joy to see your rapid growth in a variety of latin dances. Keep rocking the clave my friend!

Kelly's class is wonderful for people who want to start or improve on their rueda / casino salsa skills in a smaller setting with more individualized attention. He is a kind and gentle soul with lots of passion for the "feeling" that drives salsa dancing - connecting at a deeper level with the music and with your partner. I highly recommend his class.

One of the most striking things about Kelly as a teacher, dancer and musician is his vast understanding and incorporation of musicality and the culture of dance in his classes. While his knowledge of various Latin dance styles is deeply rooted in precision and years of practice, it is his pure joy for dance and music that guides his students toward feeling inspiration and accomplishment in their own movement. His teaching style is unique, authentic and fun. All levels of dancers, whether following, leading, or both, will love these classes.

    Response from Sigue La Clave

Juliet, I am sincerely humbled by your appreciation, and I am so glad you commented on the joy as well, since it's a reflection of your own clear joy while dancing. Dancing IS JOY, sheer joy of movement, play, and connection! It keeps us young and opens those delicious apertures of pure presence. Looking forward to more dancin' JOY with you!

I've been a student of Kelly's for almost 10 years. He's knowledgeable, experienced and fun! Each class and dance with Kelly is a new exploration of the music and moves. Whether a beginner or advanced dancer, he'll help you develop and grow.

    Response from Sigue La Clave

You are a natural, Emily, and it's been a real joy teaching and dancing with you over the past (nearly!) decade. You have a great frame, ear, and inclination for play that I really appreciate. We need to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!

Kelly is a fantastic dance instructor. My classes with him have really enhanced my dancing. In addition to being able to teach dance technique at a high level, Kelly is incredibly knowledgeable; about different salsa styles as well as other Latin dance styles, including how they have evolved over time, how they interplay and weave together, and how all of these influences might play out on the dance floor. Kelly is an accomplished musician and lifelong student of Latin music as well. His teaching approach, with a focus on musicality, really helps his students to understand the music and how to let the music inform their dancing. Last but not least, Kelly is a very patient, kind, humorous, and above all, fun teacher. I would highly recommend Kelly’s classes to Salsa students of every level!
