Enchufla y Quédate

Enchufla y quédate es una llamada fundamental en la Rueda de Casino, la forma circular cubana de salsa de estilo casino en la que una sola persona que canta las llamadas anuncia figuras con nombre que cada pareja de la rueda ejecuta en el mismo instante, con las manos pasando y las parejas girando al unísono.[1]
La figura base que modifica, la enchufla —de enchufar, “conectar”— envía a la seguidora a través del breve espacio entre los miembros de la pareja para que ambos intercambien lugares: ella se desplaza con una vuelta en sentido horario mientras el líder pivota hacia el sitio que ella acaba de dejar, y la pareja resuelve mirándose de nuevo de frente.[2] El nombre funciona también como imagen pedagógica: el líder, en efecto, “enchufa” a la seguidora a través del espacio y se coloca en el lugar que ella ocupaba antes; por eso el cruce se conduce con decisión, en lugar de simplemente caminarse.
El calificativo “y quédate” (“and stay”) es una instrucción sobre la pareja, no sobre el trabajo de pies: cada líder conserva la pareja con la que empezó, en vez de soltarla para que continúe. Eso es lo que lo separa de “dame” (“give me”), la llamada que rota a las seguidoras una posición alrededor del círculo hacia el siguiente líder; sin un “dame”, o con un “y quédate” explícito, la pareja permanece intacta durante el intercambio.[3]
Bailada a tiempo, la figura rompe una vez por compás y se completa dentro de un solo conteo de ocho: el líder prepara el cruce en la primera ruptura, y el intercambio y la vuelta de la seguidora terminan durante la segunda mitad.[1]
Como tantas combinaciones de rueda parten de ella, la enchufla se enseña temprano, y su nombre se mantiene estable en escenas que van de La Habana a Miami y a la comunidad internacional más amplia del casino.[4] Estructuralmente hace eco del cambio de lugar del dile que no conocido en la salsa en pareja, y difiere sobre todo por la vuelta añadida de la seguidora y por la ejecución sincronizada, guiada por la llamada, que es la marca distintiva de la rueda.[2]

Líder
From the open guapea hold (his left hand holding her right), the leader breaks back on his left foot on 1 and replaces forward on 2-3, raising the joined hands to send the follower across the space between them. On 5-6-7 he pivots counter-clockwise — roughly a quarter by 5, completing to about a half (~180°) by 7 — to settle into her vacated spot and re-face her, then taps/holds on 8. He retains the joined hand and does not release the partner, because 'y quédate' means stay.
Seguidor
Mirroring on the opposite foot, the follower breaks back on her right foot on 1, then on 2-3 walks forward across the space the leader opens. On 5-6-7 she makes an outside (clockwise / right) turn — about a quarter by 5, completing to roughly a half (~180°) by 7 — landing in the leader's vacated spot and re-facing him, then settles on 8. She remains with the same leader.
Tiempo musicalDanced a tiempo (On1), breaking on 1 and 5. Comfortable across typical son- and timba-based casino tempos, roughly 150-185 bpm; 190+ bpm is the fast end where the exchange and turn must be kept compact. It is not danced on the 2 / contratiempo in standard rueda.

Ten cuidado
Errores comunes
- Under-rotating the exchange — stopping short of the ~180° swap so the partners do not fully change places and finish off the circle's radius.
- Releasing the follower as though a 'dame' had been called, contradicting 'y quédate' (stay) and disturbing the rueda's partner order.
- The follower breaking forward on 1 instead of taking the back break, which collapses the timing and removes the travel that belongs on 2-3.
- Yanking the joined arm to drag the follower across rather than leading her body, turning a travelled exchange into an arm-pull.
- Rushing so the follower's clockwise turn lands before 7, putting the resolution off the music.
