Samba de Gafieira es una danza de pareja brasileña — la samba de estilo salón que surgió de los populares salones de baile, las gafieiras, de Río de Janeiro.[1] Se baila en un abrazo cerrado flexible y se construye a partir de un básico caminante y sincopado sobre el cual las parejas añaden un repertorio abierto e improvisado de figuras nombradas.[2] Pescaria — portugués para "fishing" — es una de esas figuras decorativas, y su nombre registra la forma de cast-and-reel que traza el movimiento.[3] A partir del básico, el líder abre el marco y envía a la seguidora hacia fuera a lo largo de un arco corto, como si lanzara una línea, y luego la vuelve a atraer hacia el abrazo con una recuperación medida guiada a través del cuerpo y el marco en lugar de tirar del brazo.[4] La seguidora avanza hacia fuera sobre su pie de apoyo mientras mantiene su propio eje y regresa en la recuperación sin ceder su peso; como los dos roles se reflejan mutuamente, su juego de pies permanece opuesto al de él durante todo el movimiento.[5] La figura se sitúa en el compás de 2/4 de la samba y típicamente se frasea a lo largo de dos compases.[6] Se cataloga entre las figuras de gafieira establecidas en las referencias de pasos del estilo.[7] Dentro de ese repertorio, Pescaria se considera una figura decorativa intermedia, valorada por la línea sin prisas de su enrollado de regreso más que por el desplazamiento o la rotación.

Stay grounded over the supporting foot so the draw stays smooth and unhurried.
Seguidor
As the lead opens, travel outward onto your supporting foot with the free leg trailing, keeping your own balance and frame tone (on the slow); on the quick-quick return toward the leader and recollect to the close embrace without dropping your weight onto him. Footwork mirrors the leader — opposite foot throughout — so as he settles onto his left you are over your right.

Comfortable social tempos sit around ~95–110 bpm, where the slow–quick–quick reel-in can breathe; brisker partido-alto or gafieira instrumentals reaching ~115–125 bpm are the spirited end. Well above that range the unhurried recovery loses its line.

Errores comunes
- Follower collapsing her weight onto the leader during the cast or reel-in instead of staying over her own axis.
- Leader yanking the lead arm to draw the follower back rather than leading the recovery through body and frame.
- Rushing the reel-in so the slow–quick–quick musicality is lost and the figure forfeits its unhurried line.
- Breaking the close-embrace connection on the cast so the return arrives early or off the beat.
- Treating it like a slotted salsa pattern (forcing a linear slot or an On1/On2 break) — gafieira phrases the figure across two 2/4 bars.
No confundir con
Movimientos que se confunden
- Balão — a separate gafieira swing/dip figure; not the cast-and-reel of Pescaria.
- Gancho ('hook') — a distinct gafieira leg-hook figure, unrelated to Pescaria.
- Ballroom International-style Samba botafogos and voltas — a different discipline; gafieira and ballroom samba are not the same dance.
- Any literal 'fishing-step' translation of the name — these are not attested figure names; the move's name comes from the cast-and-reel image, not a footwork label.
