Samba Saída ao Lado ('salida lateral') es una figura de apertura fundamental del Samba de Gafieira, el samba de pareja urbano que se baila en los salones de gafieira de Río de Janeiro.[1] Es la variante lateral de la saída básica, el paso básico de salida del baile, y se utiliza para abrir el abrazo cerrado e iniciar el desplazamiento de la pareja a lo largo de la pista.[2] La figura se ejecuta sobre samba en compás de 2/4 y sigue la cadencia gafieira suave y deslizante, en lugar del rebote percusivo del trabajo de pies de carnaval en solitario.[3]
Desde un abrazo cerrado de estilo salón de baile, el líder mantiene un marco elástico y dirige un desplazamiento lateral antes de resolver de regreso hacia el básico.[4] Como en todo samba de pareja, los dos roles se reflejan entre sí: el líder da un paso hacia su izquierda mientras la seguidora da un paso hacia su derecha, y dado que los compañeros se enfrentan, ambos pasos llevan a la pareja juntos hacia el mismo lado de la pista en lugar de separarlos. El peso se asienta continuamente en cada paso, preservando la característica inclinación gafieira.
El Samba de Gafieira y su vocabulario de pasos de denominación portuguesa fueron codificados en los salones de baile brasileños del siglo XX, y el nombre de la figura circula prácticamente sin traducción por las escenas de gafieira internacionales de Europa y las Américas, donde las escuelas enseñan 'saída ao lado' en lugar de un equivalente local.[5]

Líder
From a closed gafieira embrace the leader keeps an upright, elastic frame and, on the slow beat, leads a lateral displacement by moving the frame and stepping the left foot to the side; the two quick beats close the travel as the couple moves together, after which the weight resolves back toward the basic. The gafieira lean and continuous weight glide are maintained and the bounce of carnival samba is avoided.
Seguidor
The follower mirrors with opposite footwork, responding to the frame by stepping the right foot to the side on the slow beat as the couple travels together, transferring weight through the two quick beats and resolving back with the leader. The follower keeps her own posture and pendular body action and does not anticipate the size or direction of the side step.

Errores comunes
- Failing to mirror the footwork — the leader steps with the left foot and the follower with the right; matching feet collapses the figure.
- Bouncing on the beat like solo carnival samba no pé instead of the smooth, gliding gafieira weight transfer.
- Collapsing the frame or breaking the embrace so the sideways lead is not transmitted to the follower.
- Rushing the two quick beats and losing the slow–quick-quick phrasing of the measure.
- Over-travelling and crowding neighbouring couples instead of a controlled lateral displacement.
