Samba Tesoura ('tijeras') es una figura de pareja del Samba de Gafieira, el samba de salón brasileño que se baila en los sociales de las salas de gafieira de Río de Janeiro, donde se cuenta entre las figuras teatrales consagradas del estilo.[1] Pertenece a esa tradición improvisada y de exhibición en pareja, y no al samba de salón competitivo estandarizado y codificado para la competencia internacional[2] ni a las formas solistas callejeras y de Carnaval del samba brasileño.[3] En la figura, el líder abre el abrazo cerrado hacia una posición lateral y adopta una zancada baja que le ofrece a la seguidora una base firme; sobre ese marco, él la guía para que balancee una pierna cruzándola sobre la otra y de vuelta, con las piernas abriéndose y cerrándose como las hojas de unas tijeras. El cruce se impulsa desde la cadera con una transferencia de peso clara, de modo que la seguidora se mantiene erguida y equilibrada mientras la pierna traza una línea limpia, y la pareja luego regresa al paso básico. La sincronización sigue el compás de 2/4 del samba y el paso básico sincopado del Gafieira, con la tijera asentándose en los pasos más lentos a medida que la zancada se profundiza. En la escena internacional, la figura conserva su nombre en portugués.

From the basic, open the closed embrace to a side-facing position, then step out and lower into a side lunge (afundo) to build a firm base; keep the frame steady and, through the connected hand and body, invite the follower's leg to swing across and return, matching the crossing to the slower steps of the samba basic before recovering upright.
Seguidor
As the leader opens and lowers, keep the frame and settle weight onto the supporting leg; swing the free leg across the body and back from the hip, opening and closing like scissor blades, with a clear weight transfer on each pass, staying tall over the standing foot, then recover to the basic as the leader rises.

Errores comunes
- Leader dropping into the lunge too fast or too shallow, leaving the follower without a stable base for the cross
- Follower swinging the leg from the knee rather than the hip, so the scissor line looks broken and uncontrolled
- Losing the frame or connection so the lead for the crossing is unclear and mistimed
- Crossing the legs without committing weight to the supporting foot, producing a wobble or collapse
- Collapsing the upper body forward in the lunge instead of staying tall over the base
