Una figura de presentación del casino cubano y el son que luce a la follower

Exhíbela — en español, "exhibirla" o "lucirla" — es una de las figuras de presentación distintivas del Casino cubano: un momento en el que la pareja deja de desplazarse y el líder enmarca a la follower para la sala. El nombre proviene directamente del verbo exhibir, "mostrar", y ese es precisamente el propósito de la figura. En lugar de conducir un patrón de vuelta a través de la pista, el líder abre el marco, cede su propia línea de desplazamiento y presenta a su pareja[1].

Cómo se baila

Mientras la mayoría de las figuras de casino llevan a la pareja por una rotación o un intercambio con desplazamiento, Exhíbela es una exhibición momentánea. El líder envía a la follower por un recorrido corto frente a él o a su lado, cede su propia línea y extiende un brazo libre para presentarla mientras ella completa una caminata estilizada y vuelve a quedar de frente a él[2]. La figura exige poca rotación de la follower — aproximadamente medio giro dividido entre su salida y su regreso —, por lo que premia la claridad del marco y un tiempo sin prisa por encima de la velocidad. Bailada en tempo de son, se asienta a contratiempo: pasos compactos rápido-rápido con un toque o un pulso sostenido en lugar de una pisada, lo que da al movimiento su cualidad de pausa y presentación.

En la rueda

Exhíbela también es una llamada establecida en la Rueda de Casino, acompañada por su propia seña manual reconocida para que todo un círculo de parejas pueda entrar en la exhibición al mismo tiempo y lucir a sus followers al unísono[3]. Como ocurre con otras llamadas de rueda, el valor reside en la sincronía — que cada líder marque la misma presentación en el mismo pulso —, lo que hace que el tiempo y un marco limpio importen más que cualquier adorno individual.

Nombre y alcance

En las escenas anglófonas de casino, la llamada en español circula junto con glosas en inglés — "exhibit her" o "show her off" —, y la figura se ubica de lleno dentro del largo debate entre nombres en inglés y en español que atraviesa las comunidades de casino[4]. El movimiento pertenece a los linajes del casino y del son; los estilos lineales, basados en slot, tienden a presentar a la follower mediante styling individual y shines más que bajo una sola llamada nombrada como esta.

Líder

From a single- or two-hand hold in son's compact contratiempo frame, the leader opens the connection and directs the follower along a short cleared path across or beside his front; he then steps slightly off his own line and extends his free arm to present her, ceding the spotlight, before collecting her back toward closed position on the resolving beats. Mirror footwork: where the follower steps with her right, he steps with his left.

Receiving the open lead, the follower walks out along the cleared path with styled, compact son steps, turning about a quarter into the display, travelling, then a further quarter to re-face the leader — roughly a half-turn in total split across two points — keeping the contratiempo tap so the presentation lands on the held beat rather than rushing the return to the leader.

Ten cuidado

Errores comunes

  • Under-turning the return so the follower finishes side-on instead of re-facing the leader, breaking the presentation line.
  • Rushing the walk-out and losing the contratiempo tap, so the display lands on the wrong beat.
  • The leader crowding the follower's path instead of ceding his own line, leaving no room to show her.
  • Treating it as a fast multi-turn spin: Exhíbela is a presentation, and over-rotating past the half-turn collapses the display.
  • Releasing the connecting hand too early, so the collection back to closed position has no lead.
