Local GuideGoogleMy daughter has been taking classes at A Time To Dance since she was 3 and we couldn't be happier! She's learned so much in the past 2 years and absolutely adores her teacher Ms. Ellen. The recitals are always phenomenal and the talent coming out of this studio is super impressive! We definitely plan for this to be our dance home for as long as we're in the area!

Local GuideGoogleWe love a time to dance as well as our daughter. Mrs. Sybrina and the girls who teach there are wonderful, patient, engaging, and make the overall experience very comfortable. Would recommend to any parent starting ballet out for their littles!

GoogleSo, my daughters (4 &6) each took one class. A Time To Dance does two separate recitals on the same day, one at 2 and one at 4:30. They conveniently ended up each in separate recitals (which they expect you to buy tickets for both shows- you cannot convince me that this is not done on purpose). They do recitals the week after Memorial Day in Destin. You have to leave super early to get there to make sure that you make it in time because you never know what Destin traffic will be like. For us, we didn’t end up with a photo of both of our girls together because it gets so jumbled and chaotic, and you can’t have a 4 year old with red lipstick on for four hours and it look good. If you do end up having to go to both recitals, they make you leave the auditorium and get in line to come back in again. They say that there is a theme for the show but you couldn’t tell. This past year the theme was “In our 20th Era” as an ode to Taylor Swift. They made some “era” comments but that was the extent to an actual theme. Honestly, Taylor Swift isn’t an appropriate theme for young girls anyways. If your child is in a Monday class, they don’t have practice the week of recital. I asked if they would be practicing after being dropped off, before going on stage. I was told “no, they’re usually fine”. I replied “I don’t think they will be after not practicing their recital dance for two weeks”. Keep in mind this is a four year old class we’re talking about. Most of the girls in that class didn’t do the majority of the dance and it felt like the recital was a waste of money. Some of the costumes of the girls were over revealing and some of the moves were overly provocative. Another thing is that when it comes to photos- when you sign up it tells you that they should be sent out in four weeks. Under the photographer’s (the owners husband) FAQ’s it says they should be done within six weeks. At seven and a half weeks, I reached out and asked about photos. I was told, “I was told that they should be sent out shortly, they had limited internet.”. Photos were FINALLY sent out at eleven and a half weeks (still missing one of my daughter’s group photos). I did looked back and last year they took nine weeks. Both, completely unacceptable but for some reason people seem to just say “oh they always take a long time”. The teachers we had were good but the lack of professionalism of the actual studio isn’t worth it. I will also note that there is only one bathroom because the other one is used for a storage closet. The studio rooms aren’t fully closed off rooms (open on top) and are closed off by a curtain. There is no way to watch classes other than peeking through a curtain, which isn’t convenient for small children. Multiple times there was no working bathroom. After recital, we transitioned to finding a new studio the following week and couldn’t be happier with our families decision.
