From our experience as a family at this studio, the dancers do receive strong technical training, which is a positive. However, there are several areas where improvements could make a big difference for families and students. The cleanliness of the facility has been a concern at times, as the bathrooms and studio floors have not always appeared well maintained. The studio space itself could also benefit from updates, particularly the flooring and overall appearance. Pricing is also extremely high, and from a parent’s perspective it can feel disproportionate to the condition of the facility and overall experience. There have also been times where billing and scheduling have not felt very transparent or clearly communicated. The studio holds dancers and families to a very high standard, which is understandable in a competitive environment. However, it would be encouraging to see that same level of accountability applied internally. In our experience, respectful feedback from families has not always felt welcomed. The dancers are talented and clearly work hard. With improved communication, greater transparency around billing and scheduling, and attention to facility maintenance, this studio could provide an experience that better reflects the quality of training the dancers receive.

Thank you for giving your detailed opinion about the inner workings of our studio. We absolutely do appreciate your input. Although we would have preferred it for you to address your issues directly with the owners. We have addressed the cleaning issue with our contracted cleaning company. Unfortunately many children contribute to making it almost impossible to keep the studio spotless at all times. In reference to your pricing concern, we do disagree. If you would own and experience your own studio, you would probably agree with us being in line. Please feel free to contact us anytime with any issues you might have. We are always open to listen. Our goal is, and has always been, to make it the most enjoyable experience for our children and parents, while making it one of the best educational dance academies in the area.

Nina and her staff have been amazing and have helped foster my daughter and help grow her confidence not just as a dancer but as a person. All staff is extremely helpful, detailed, regimented and compassionate about what they do.

Our daughter was at this studio many years ago and I can only say that this studio was and still is a huge part of her life and who she is to this day. Nina inspired her to achieve things she never thought she was able. She took her with her to NY city for a trip that she still talks about today. The environment was absolutely the most professional and caring I have ever seen. The owners are passionate and caring and fostered an environment that was like family. Some of the happiest days of my life were spent involved with this studio and my daughter still says the same. Highly recommend

We've been at CDC for about 2 years and absolutely love it. My daughter has improved in her flexibility and dancing. But more than that she is gaining skills on independence, self advocacy, communication, and time management. Most importantly for us, her confidence in all aspects of her life has risen dramatically. She is/was a high anxiety child who panicked the first time parents came in to watch the class. She hated being asked questions and being center of attention and request we speak up for her. She absolutely loves performing now, and her teachers in school have commented on how much more she speaks and is willing to go up to the board to show what she's learning in school. She will have conversations with people and voice her own opinions more often because of the positive impact CDC has had on her life. Shes creating core memories and life long friendships at this dance studio. The teachers are kind and encouraging. They will critique dancers, but it always in a professional and respectful manner to help the dancers improve. And they are amazing at answering any question we have, no matter how ridiculous or numerous my questions may seem as someone who was never involved in dance prior to my daughter developing an interest. We can not recommend CDC enough.

Carolina dance is EXCEPTIONAL. They raise many young leaders and produce professional, fit, and disciplined dancers. There is someone writing hateful reviews on multiple different accounts as an attempt to hurt the studios reputation. When I heard this I was mad because this studio has done so many amazing things. It has helped my sister grow in her leadership, discipline, and as well find one of her true passions. I have seen so much of a change for the better in her since she has been attending and I am thankful for the school. The head of this school Miss. Nina is a true leader and works very hard to uphold an amazing reputation for this school and truly cares for every single one of her dancers.I would hate to see someone try to ruin that hard worked for reputation because of mean comments that are not true.Thank you Carolina Dance Capital for what you do!

My daughter danced company for 3 years at CDC. The intense daily hours/schedule, lack of care for family time/values, anxiety and fear tactics used on the kids to make them perform to CDC standards, lack of concern for school grades/homework, demeaning responses to parents who have questions (“it’s in the handbook” instead of just being helpful and answering the basic question), belittling remarks in-front of peers and bullying tactics in teaching caused my daughter (and myself) to loose her love for dance. The studio expects prompt arrival, even publicly reprimanding the child in front of the class, if one minute late but does not respect parents time letting the kids out sometimes 30-45 minutes late. Many nights when she was scheduled to be done at 8:45pm she wouldn’t get out until 9:15/9:30pm on school nights after being at the studio since 4:30pm. Signing the documents at CDC is signing over your kid to them. The owner/director, Nina, makes Abby Lee Miller look like a saint. She is rude to parents that aren’t her puppets, bullies the kids to the point of tears (witnessed by many others), and uses manipulation to play the kids against the parents. I’m sure she will reply to this review with deflection to protect her image she tries so hard to uphold. The studio produces great competitive dances but also produces an unhealthy mentality among children and an unprofessional management with parents. I hope my review will cause parents looking to go to CDC to look deeper into the teaching/coaching/management and ask questions about what goes on behind closed doors at this studio, as well as talk to parents who are there or have been there in the past.

Please do not blame the school for your child's constant disrespect towards teachers, as well as bullying her team mates. Writing multiple 1 star reviews by switching names to hurt our school's rating and reputation does not help your cause either. Our Artistic Director has taken the time , more than once, to outline in detail as to what the true issues and concerns with your child were.
