I attended over 60 classes at this location over the past 8 months, and I am very grateful that these classes provided a nonjudgmental and welcoming environment! As a perfectionist myself who is very new to dance, I often started the classes feeling very intimidated and overwhelmed, but the instructors (especially Joe, Yaeven, Lydia, Kayla, and Katie) encouraged and inspired me to accept my current state and be proud of my own progress. I would recommend DivaDance DC for those who are looking for open-level, fun dance classes in the area!

Unfortunately, my first experience with Diva Dance DC will probably have me never coming back. I used to go to the diva dance in ny, and I loved the vibe so after moving to the DC area I thought to try it out. I spoke to the owner back in January when i called to inquire about classes. She accommodated me because I'm a flight attendant and allowed me to start my unlimited membership in March (and extended the durtlation because of my  sporadic schedule) I went on the diva dance weboage to sign up but the login page wouldn't allow me to get in.  It eventually forwarded me to the mind body portal which also didn't work. I tried multiple times. I ended up calling the owner and no answer so I left her a message. I called the diva dance number and left a message as well. A few days later, I still didnt hear back. I tried the web page again and reset my password but it still didn't work. I called the diva dance number again and nobody answered. I left another message. I called the owner again and still no response. I then texted her but nothing. After doing some research, it appeared that you had to download the mind body app in order to register. I registered for a class this past Monday and Tuesday. After receiving the confirmation email, I selected the option to add it to my calendar. The first one took me to Epic Yoga DC and I took the class. On Tuesday however, the Google invite took me to epic yoga again. I arrived at 5:50. Class wad at 6. After arriving, the yoga staff told me the class wasn't there; that it was located at a different studio. I showed them the confirmation email from diva dance and when you clicked on directions, Google maps generated epic yoga. They Informed me that it's happened a few times before but they didn't know where to send me because they don't work for them. They were super helpful on reaching out to get info for me. They also tried the diva dance number and of course, no answer. They finally found an address and gave it to me. I was irritated because I had already searched and paid for parking so I ran to my car to see if I could make the other class. The other locatiom was surrounded by construction. So parking was extremely limited. By the time I found parking it was 635 and the class ended at 7. I  paid for parking (again) and checked in with the host and let her know how upset I was with the entire experience.  I showed her my call logs, my text messages as well as the confirmation email generating the wrong address and she was super apologetic. She asked if I spoke to the owner and I told her I had been trying to reach her for a week and no luck. She told me would message her and that she would get back to me because it was unacceptable. I was offered another class at 745 back at Epic Yoga. I was hesitant because I had to go home and pack for work but I figured I might as well since i already drove out to DC. So I waited in my car, headed back to Epic Yoga, paid for parking (again) and took the class. I wanted to wait 24 hours to see if someone reached out... but they didn't. The dance instructors are fun but the communication within the company is terrible and a huge turn off. Probably wont end up going back here again.

Hi CeeCee, We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience. This is definitely not the standard we strive for at DivaDance DC, and we completely understand your frustration. We appreciate you acknowledging our initial communication in January and February, where we had the chance to speak and accommodate your schedule by extending your trial. We were also happy to check in on you after the DC plane crash tragedy. That said, we regret that your more recent experience with registration challenges and communication left you feeling unheard. While our staff was unavailable during non-business hours, we recognize the importance of responsiveness and will work to improve in this area. Regarding the class location issue, we sincerely apologize for the confusion. While our app and email confirmations provide the correct studio addresses, we understand that Google Calendar defaults to our main location at Epic Yoga. We are actively working with our technology team to prevent this issue from affecting others in the future. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’d love the opportunity to make things right. If you’re open to it, please reach out to us at dc@divadancecompany.com so we can personally address your concerns. We truly appreciate you giving DivaDance DC a try and hope to regain your trust. Best, Sarah Jasmine DivaDance DC Team

Went to a class to see if I would like it. It was a fun atmosphere, simple choreography, not really that much of a workout. What irked me was the hard sell at the end of the class. They pulled all of the newbies aside and talked to them about the subscription / package offerings and wanted us to make a decision right there - it was uncomfortable to say the least.

    Response from DivaDance® DMV

Hey Emily! Thanks for your honest review. We are super happy that you loved the choreo and got a workout. Most of our newbies only come for one class, so since we know that they loved the class and want to come back, we want to share how clients can come back and save $$ doing more of what they love! You definitely don't have to make a decision on the spot, we def want everyone leaving knowing what options you have when you are ready! We hope you come back and dance with us again!

I've been a few classes with different instructors and enjoy them all. I love the energy in classes and the support the team provides you. The importance of having fun and enjoy your time more than how good are you dancing (I don't have experience dancing btw). Happy to discover this place!
