I’m from the Greater Bridgeport area and do business in the Greater Hartford region. Beyond Criollísimo in New Britain and the former Comerio on Park Street, this spot stands out for excellent Comida Boricua. I’ve returned multiple times and have also recommended it to friends from Springfield, who now make it a regular stop as well. Easily one of the best in the state.

Response from Humacao Restaurant & Lounge

Thank you so much for this—means a lot coming from someone who really knows the Connecticut food scene. We truly appreciate you making the trip from the Greater Bridgeport area and continuing to support us here in Greater Hartford. Hearing that you’ve come back multiple times and even put your friends from Springfield on to us… that’s love right there. Big respect for mentioning spots like Criollísimo and Comerio—we take a lot of pride in representing authentic comida Boricua, so to be mentioned in that conversation is an honor. We’re always working to level up both the food and the service, so your feedback helps us keep pushing.

Don’t waste your time.. we weren’t given menus until 15 mins of sitting and asking.. we waited for 1.5 hrs for our food just for them to come out with mine, and my husbands food but not my 10 yr old.. so we didn’t want to eat without him.. 35 mins later no food.. my husband had to give him his food to get eating.. then 15 mins the food came out.. they are very unorganized.. the food didn’t come out at one time for any tables .. the food was alright but cold.. if you looking for a relaxing chill dinner with family.. avoid this place.. Response to their comment on my review. No ma’am, we arrived at 7:37 exactly cause that’s what our GPS said you had one large party of over 20 people and another family. Of about eight people and we were the only other people in the restaurant so please don’t make excuses for your poor service

Response from Humacao Restaurant & Lounge

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet expectations. For context, your party arrived at 10 PM without a reservation during one of our busiest times, with the restaurant at full capacity. While we always do our best to accommodate walk-ins, wait times and staggered food delivery can happen in high-volume situations. That said, we understand how frustrating that can feel—especially when dining with family—and we’ll continue working with our team to improve timing and communication during peak hours. For a smoother and more relaxed experience, we strongly recommend making a reservation through our website ahead of time, especially on busy nights. We appreciate you giving us a try and hope you’ll consider visiting again under better circumstances.

Don the owner and Fredo the bartender are so nice to me. As someone who goes out alone. It’s nice the find a place where the staff knows you by name

Response from Humacao Restaurant & Lounge

, this truly means a lot—thank you 🙏 We’re big on making Humacao feel like a second home, so hearing that you feel comfortable coming in and being recognized by name is everything to us. I’ll make sure Don and Fredo see this—they’ll really appreciate it! We look forward to seeing you again soon. You’ve always got a seat with us 🤝💛

As soon as I walk in, I notice a young lady sitting at a table on her phone or tablet having a good time and loud. She noticed me just like notice her and we kept on to our business. I walked to the counter since no greeter was at the door. I waited for atleast 10min for a pre-order / take-out. Order was placed at 2:30pm and pick up at 3pm since i was nearby. It was simple and quick -Pick Up / Go. No one in the dinning room or bar, just me at the counter waiting. I can hear staff in the kitchen. No acknowledgement from anyone. I stepped outside to make sure I was at the correct location. Keep in mind the door gives an alert every time it opens. Seconds later a phone call comes into the restaurant. The lady sitting down picks up the restaurant phone and to my surprise she was a the employee on duty. She walks behind the counter picks up a bag with food and said Dan here's your order. $60 plus of cold food because it was sitting on top of a coolers. I did not rate the food because overall I am not a big fan. The Service and Treatment that i experience here is what push me to take-out or dine-in at Joeys Garlic, Casadoro and Mill on the River with family, friends and business partners.

Response from Humacao Restaurant & Lounge

Wow — thank you for the detailed play-by-play, we almost felt like we were watching a documentary. 🎬 Just to clarify: the “young lady having a good time” was indeed our staff member — multitasking by answering the restaurant phone, handling orders, and assisting guests (including yours). The food you picked up was prepared on time and held safely for pickup — not abandoned on a mountain somewhere. We’re sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations, but we do appreciate you choosing us and even more appreciate the comparison tour of other restaurants in Connecticut — always good to know where else folks enjoy dining. We’re constantly working on improving service flow during slower hours and feedback like this helps us tighten things up. Wishing you great meals wherever you choose to dine next! — Humacao Restaurant & Lounge
