GoogleI had a great time! Polemic was generous enough to host our fitness and wellness club for a few events. They were so great to work with and lead some amazing classes!

GoogleI cannot recommend Polemic enough! Áine and her partner have created an incredible space that is equal parts welcoming, empowering, and fun. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with positivity and encouragement. Áine is an amazing instructor. She has a gift for breaking down moves in a way that’s easy to understand, while pushing you to challenge yourself and feel confident on the pole. The studio itself is clean, well-equipped, and has such a great vibe. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, the classes cater to all levels, and you leave feeling strong, accomplished, and inspired. On top of that, Áine and her team go above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and supported. If you’re looking for a fantastic workout, a creative outlet, or a supportive community, this is the place to be. I’m so grateful to have had the chance to experience Polemic, and I can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend!

GoogleAfter thinking things over for a while, I have decided I have to share my experience with this studio for the greater good. Pole fitness has been a part of my life for around 2+ years and after a move I was so excited to find a new studio. I couldn’t find any instructor certification info on Polemic’s website, but I went anyway. The intro classes were fun, super inclusive and a lovely vibe but the instructors weren’t well versed in safety and unable to respond to several student questions. The real issue came when I took an intermediate class with the owner who, while spotting me, did not listen to me asking to get down. I was capable of what she was asking, but my hand slipped and I wasn’t comfortable continuing. She held on and pushed me in a way that was deeply uncomfortable and I no longer feel safe in this studio. It seems like the instructors are students who have been there a while which no sort of formal training.
Response from Polemic Dance & Fitness Studio
Hi Ainsley and future readers. This is Áine, one of the owners of this studio and the instructor of the intermediate class you took on January 28 of this year. I appreciate your feedback and honesty. I'm glad that you enjoyed the intro class and felt our commitment to inclusiveness, which is part of our mission. The intro level instructors at our studio are not required to have pole certification at this time, but must complete at least 8 hours of in-house training, plus 1 or more years of pole experience. Regarding my own experience, I have been pole dancing myself since 1999 and teaching all levels of pole since 2006. I was a competitive gymnast for 14 years, college athlete, and certified personal fitness trainer. I have also taken college courses in anatomy and physiology. At the time I started teaching pole there were no certification courses in existence, as pole was then a completely new form of fitness. Several years ago, I did indeed complete a certification course through Vertical Dance, but they unfortunately went out of business without issuing the certification. Currently, we are working to bring Dr. Misty Rose Austin (Performance Art Athletics) to our studio to provide in-person training for all of our instructors this summer. Lastly, I am truly sorry if you felt pushed beyond your limits or uncomfortable in any way during class. I am an extremely careful and conscientious spotter, as many of my previous students can attest. I also try very hard to listen to students and ask how they are feeling while inverted or in other positions. As this situation occurred over 3 months ago, I don't know exactly what happened, but I do apologize for any negative feelings that you have been harboring.

Local GuideGoogleStep up & grab a pole! NO JUDGMENT & F-U-N learning 💯! Miss V leads an AH-MAZING class full of learning, laughs, and fabulous music. She takes it slow, with consensual mindful body direction for the disabled dyslexically challenged 😁🙏 All body types & genders are VERY welcome. It's a very open, embracing group affiliated with Polemic. The workout is (extremely deceptive) and SUCH a good time you don't realize how hard you've hit it until the next day. It's SO worth it! There's a clean restroom, yoga mats, and area to practice your skills. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and a BLAST to work with. There's merch, from Polemic representing gear to actual dance heels 😘 The pricing is reasonable and includes a hefty first timer discount, Weeeeeeeeeeee! So come join the crew and play on the poles with us!! 💯💓💪
