Settle Fold

A Bailar Original · Miami, FL — 2026

Cha chaLevel: Improver2 min read1 citations

Settle Fold is a dedicated cha-cha-chá closing figure — a move whose identity is the resolution of the partnership's connection geometry rather than any new footwork pattern. Both partners stay in frame from the first beat to the last, and the figure ends with two points of hand contact folded into a single collected hold: the danced equivalent of an exhale, a deliberate return to neutral that lets a routine land. Rather than projecting energy outward, it gathers the couple inward, trading the sharp Cuban flick for a quiet, even settle so the geometry folds shut to square.

Execution

The figure resolves over a single soft forward-rock and the closing 'cha-cha-cha.' On the forward rock the lead unwinds any residual contra-body, letting each dancer's ribcage spiral gently back to square, while the two wide-held hands draw inward to a single collected join on the centerline. On the 'cha-cha-cha' the hips merely SETTLE — no sharp Cuban hip flick — with the weight collecting evenly so that both partners arrive square, centered, and still on count 1. What were two separate contact points have folded into one calm hold.

Origin

Settle Fold is an original Bailar move, part of the Bia Signature Collection, created in Miami, Florida, in 2026. It was designed using the Bia corpus and Bailar's 30+-voice AI family together with human editorial direction — a genuinely new cha-cha-chá figure not previously documented anywhere.

In the Routine Maker

This move is integrated into the Bailar Routine Maker, which sequences it with the rest of the repertoire to generate full choreographies — both in manual selection and in routines that Bia generates.[1]
