This is the second year bringing my students for a one hour lesson of salsa, bachata, merengue. Orpa was great with them as usual and made the class super fun for them. I can wait to bring another group next year!

I've been taking private Salsa lessons with Orpa for almost a year now, and I am so pleased with my experience. She has a wonderful energy and is so upbeat, and she is a great instructor. I highly recommend dance in general, and Orpa at Nieves Latin Dance Studio in particular. It's a rewarding experience because I'm moving my body, learning a new skill, having a ton of fun doing it. To whoever instructed on January 21st at 8:30pm. She made us feel very excluded. - Since we know basic salsa we wanted to join a bit of a higher level. Arriving at the studio we see the 7:30pm class (beginner) which were packed like sardines. Looks like no room to dance. I can mention all the little things I noticed wrong but I’ll just say the big thing that really did it for me. We began to partner up and she showed us this choreography with a bunch of spins. My partner and I were confused and she looked at us and said to the whole room that we’re gonna push through and if you haven’t been to the other classes and don’t know what you’re doing you can stand off to the side and watch or dance on your own. Then she asked us if we could move and put us in the corner. - It just gave me mean girl vibes where she smiles at you but says something passive aggressive. We felt excluded and left early. Even if that wasn’t her intention that’s how it came across and I’m only saying this so it doesn’t happen again. It didn’t feel fun and felt more like you were training for a dance recital or something.
