Local GuideGoogleA place for the community to dance and learn! My daughter takes Salsa lessons with on weekends. Frankie Guzmán is a great dance teacher who helps students master the steps while creating a sense of belonging. I like the way she teaches because she breaks things down in a way children can understand while keeping them interested with fun, challenging routines! Sandunga Kids have performed at the Old Timer's Salsa Festival as well as the Hispanic Heritage Celebration at the NY City's Department for the Aging. I take Salsa on 2 every Monday and have lots of fun! Lessons are affordable and usually 1 hour and a half which is good. Augie Guzmán is my instructor and he works so well with adult students who have different levels of experience and abilities! We go over steps as a group and then do partner work. He supports us individually as needed and explains things very clearly. Everyone works together and we have a great group chemistry. Every month we bond and show off our steps at the Sandunga Salsa Socials! Sandunga Dance Studio also has educational nights monthly where they show documentaries and have conversations about past and current events that affect the community. I have attended two of these and it was a valuable learning experience.
