Emily & Tonnam are two prime Bachata teachers I'd recommend to everyone. One, they're so good at their craft. You can tell they've trained extensively with the best in the world like Korke y Judith with Bachata Sensual. Two, they're excellent teachers. They break everything down so easily for beginners and advanced dancers alike. I trust their methodology completely. Third, they're kind, humble, and fun humans. They deeply care about you and your successes. You just want to support good people like them. I've had the pleasure to meet them first in Spain while training together. Then work with to teach classes for Bachata Library, my online school. Then hire them for my annual CDMX Bachata Retreat. They treated my students as if they were their own. In the feedback forms, some students told us the highlight of the whole retreat was learning from Emily & Tonnam. Honestly, me too. They were so easy to work with, bringing them back next year is a no-brainer to me. Go to one of their classes and feel the magic yourselves. Stay in their community and you'll get to know their weird, quirky personalities that we all love so much.

I'm so lucky to find Emily and Tonnam at the beginning of my bachata journey and I already see my own growth in dancing since taking lessons with them (both group and private lessons) for a few months. They don’t just show you 'moves': they break down the technique in details and focus on the connection between lead and follow. I had ankle injury and was out for a few months. I always feel welcomed when resuming my lessons. They give an amazing vibe and create a warm dance community.

I can’t say enough good things about Emily and Tonnam! I’ve been taking their classes ever since they relocated to the Bay Area and I can easily say that I’ve learned the most from them in my dance journey. Their level of detail and careful explanations will definitely level up your dance! With group classes for all levels, you will definitely find a group suitable for where you’re at. To that point, I will say that Emily and Tonnam have created a fun and welcoming community of dancers! On top of their normal classes, they host monthly practice socials that serve as a fun, productive session where you get to practice what you’ve learned with other students all while getting feedback from Emily and Tonnam if you so desire. Think of it like a session where they give personalized feedback to folks that show up. I’ve also done private lessons with them and if you’re looking for targeted feedback on your dance, then I highly recommend doing these. The drills and lessons will be challenging and will push your abilities, but you’ll see a lot of growth in your dancing by doing these! Overall, if you like to nerd out on the details of dance, are looking for a workout, or just wanna have a great time, you’ve found just the spot!

This really is the best place to learn to dance Bachata in the bay area. Emily and Tonnam are passionate and welcoming instructors who really care about their students growth and always go the extra mile. They provide structured, progressive classes that have a strong focus on technique and fundamentals rather than just teaching patterns, but always make it fun. Beyond regular classes they have choreo teams for performances, and host mini practice socials where they will help workshop any difficulties you are having. They also foster a strong sense of community and friendship amongst their students and create a safe, respectful plan to learn

Emily and Tonnam are amazing teachers! You can tell that dancing is a passion for them. Their group classes are so much fun and informative. You’ll receive guidance and feedback to help improve your dancing based on your level and dance goal. I participated in group classes and private lessons and learned so much from both formats. Give them a try and watch your dancing improve!
