I have been coming for the past couple of weeks and I already love everything about this place. Very welcoming to beginners and the people here are all great teachers and salseros alike. They also do socials and activities which I think is great to get to know people. Looking forward to improve my salsa here!

Great studio to learn Cuban salsa! I took lessons here for around 9 months while I lived in New York. I’m an experienced salsa dancer (including LA and NY-style salsa), and Salsa Sabrosa welcomed me with open arms as I switched to new styles of salsa. This school is very friendly to beginners as well. The classes mainly focus only on Cuban salsa partnerwork and rueda de casino, plus some timbaton/cubaton. I would suggest taking a look at their schedule to see what they offer. Once in a while, they will offer one-time workshops in technique or musicality, but these aren’t part of the normal schedule and will be announced separately. As for son cubano, they don’t explicitly offer it, but I have taken partnerwork classes where they will incorporate son cubano into the lesson for that day. Just one opportunity for improvement…. There are four levels at this school. Each time you want to move up a level, you have to take an assessment with one of the instructors. The assessments take place right before class begins, but I frequently ran into issues where the instructor arrived late to the assessment time, and therefore couldn’t take it that day. Therefore I had to keep pushing my assessment to the following session until the instructor finally arrived on time to do it. Additionally, the assessment for the last level (Level 4) was difficult to schedule because there’s only 1 or 2 instructors who could do it, and just as I mentioned above, they often arrive late. Also, the process for Level 4 assessment kept changing, and for a while it was suspended until the teaching staff could figure out their new process. Ultimately, they decided to eliminate the assessment entirely, and instead they invite you to Level 4 by invitation only. Hopefully this new process will be an improvement!

Hey Edgar! Really helpful and honest review, i (Teo) really appreciate it I'm sorry you had to be part of the process of us figuring things out with the level 4. It has being challenging for us managing having people steping out without approval and us being strict and taking them out of classes (which we didn't do) so we were teying to figure ways to solve that. We also hope with this new way have a considerable improvement and solve once for all the people attending to level 4 About not having instructors available for the assessment is something that you're also totally right, we struggle with it and haven't find the ways to have someone available every time. I'll do my best to resolve that as soon as possible 🙏🏽 thanks for the call out On a side note i didnt know youre moving! Ill reach out to you for sure 😁👍🏽 it was amazing having you this long and i would've liked to have you for longer Thanks once again for the review and i am wishing the best in the new path you have chosen 🤗

Such a wonderful school with great instructors. I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a salsa school in NYC - whether you’re a beginner or more advanced…you will not regret it. Also, Rueda/Casino is the salsa style that is the most fun in my opinion. You will have so much fun. Do it and get a package and go all the time. I look forward to it so much! Great place to meet cool people as well

    Response from Salsa Sabrosa
