Latin dance in
New York.

On-2 capital of the country.

New York gave the world On-2 mambo, and it's still the country's capital for it. The pace is faster, the musicality denser, the culture protective — dancers here take the music seriously. Floors stay open six nights a week, from Harlem lounges to midtown studios running socials until 4am.

Manhattan concentrates the teaching studios and weeknight socials — Theater District, Chelsea, Flatiron. The Bronx holds bachata dominicana as its home style. Queens and Brooklyn run Caribbean nights that pull from the Dominican, Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Mexican communities who actually live there. Tuesday and Wednesday are the big weeknights; Friday is when the competitive crowd comes out.

On-2 is the NYC style. If you learned salsa anywhere else, you learned On-1 — they're not the same, and New York will gently remind you. Take a weekday class before attempting a weekend social.
