San Diego does outdoor better than most. Year-round weather means beachside socials, rooftop dances, and cross-border trips to Tijuana Latin clubs are all common parts of the calendar. The scene leans younger and more casual than LA's, and the border proximity adds a binational layer other US cities don't have.

Gaslamp and Little Italy run the downtown nightclub socials. North Park and Hillcrest have the studio circuit. Navy presence adds a transient layer — dancers rotate in and out every couple years. Fridays are salsa-heavy; Saturdays lean bachata; Sundays often close out with outdoor afternoon dances.

San Diego's outdoor socials are as good as any indoor venue. Don't skip them. If you've danced in Tijuana, you already know the regional rhythm and timing.
