BAILAR

Miami, FL

Latin dance in
Miami.

Salsa, casino, and Caribbean energy 365 days a year.

Miami dances outdoors more than any other US city. Weekend floors in Wynwood and South Beach rarely thin out before 2am, and Tuesday rueda on Calle Ocho runs late into the week. The humidity, the Caribbean mix, the bilingual crowd — it's the closest thing to Havana or Santo Domingo the continental US offers.

The scene splits three ways. Little Havana and the 8th Street corridor for salsa casino, live orchestras, and older crowds who've been dancing since the original rooms opened decades ago. Brickell and South Beach for sensual bachata, reggaeton sets, and younger socials. Hialeah and the MDX corridor for the Cuban community's home floors — smaller venues, tight lead-and-follow, music straight from la isla.

Show up around 9pm at any venue with a lesson before the social. Nobody holds it against you for saying "I just learned" — they'll walk you through it. The hardest part of Miami is choosing between two great options on the same night.
